READY project is a three year project funded by Netherlands Ministry of foreign affairs. The project envisions healthy and empowered adolescents (10-19) who feel free and safe to express themselves. Able to access and uptake quality integrated SRHR/HIV related services and practicing health seeking behaviors. The project prioritizes Adolescents living with HIV, exploited for and selling sex; who use drugs in all its interventions.
READY is implemented in Nakasongola, Mityana and Luwero districts by Community Organization of Youth against HIV/AIDS (COYAA); Nakaseeta Initiative for Adult Education and Development (NIFAED); and Nyimbwa Multi-purpose Organization of People Living with HIV/AIDS (NYIMUPHAS) respectively. In addition, Peer to Peer Uganda (PEERU) is the advocacy partner.
READY is a peer-led project that requires a lot of peer-led interventions. Peer educators have several responsibilities, including sensitizing fellow peers about integrated SRHR information services, mobilizing them SRHR/HIV services, conducting condom demonstrations, and distributing IEC materials in form of brochures.
