Universal Access to Health for All: Healthy and Empowered LGBT Communities Programme.
Deep engagement grant (DEG), Universal access to health for all: the grant aims at HIV prevention and treatment of key populations (KPs) in Uganda. It also focuses on empowering KPs to demand and access health services free of stigma and discrimination. DEG intends to strengthen capacity of KP focused Civil Society organizations to effectively implement the project so as to attain UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets among selected KP communities.
The project is implemented in 17 districts within central, east central, western, south western and northern regions of Uganda. Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Mbarara, Ntungamo Masaka, Luwero, Mpigi, Fort Portal, Kasese, Kabale, Jinja, Mbale, Busia, Tororo, Gulu are some of the project districts.
Objective 1: 14,700 LGBT and their intimate partners reached with high quality friendly HIV and STI preventive and treatment services
Objective 2: 596 HIV positive LGBT Ugandans will know their status, start HIV treatment and achieve viral suppression
Objective 3: 12 Uganda LGBT focused CSO organizations effectively implement and monitor project activities
Objective 4: 13 consortium IPs will effectively institute measures that decreases stigma, discrimination and violence against LGBT communities in order to access and utilize HIV/STI services.
